We were glad to host 11 First Aid trainees in June. The instructor Sharon,
was back in town, and it was quite a hoot. The great thing was we had such
a wide range of professionals and volunteers who were keen to be certified
Emergency First Aid At Work trained, including our Nick, Ruby, Oscar, Ray,
Raymond, and George.
It was encouraging to hear how other attendees had come from the
industrial and hospitality sectors, and were all ambitious to hang their
certificate on their respective walls. Fun fact, did you know the Heimlich
manoeuvre is no longer named so since his passing due to infringement of
names/titles, that kind of thing? Shame that, it was such a fitting name for
what looks like a wrestling move from afar, but is crucial to saving people
from choking.

Teamwork on the day was jovial and constructive. Not to mention the
pumping, slapping of the dummies, then carrying all six of them on
Stockport Road to get to the side street, with many curious eyes and smiles
from the young and old locals around that evening on us.
