At the end of August LGN staff members Ray and David undertook Emergency First Aid at Work training, courtesy of Manchester First Aid Training.
The first part of the training took place online, where the pair watched a series of informative videos, and answered multiple choice questions related to all things First Aid.
The second half of the training took place in Levenshulme Inspire, and we were joined by LGN volunteers Felix and Zill E Huma, as well as Inspire Cafe volunteers Henry, Sam, and her son.
Our session was led by Karen, who explained First Aid techniques such as how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to use a defibrillator, how to apply bandages and more.
After successfully completing the training, the group received certificates, and are fully accredited for three years.
According to the website Resuscitation Council UK, ‘For every minute that a person in cardiac arrest doesn’t receive CPR and defibrillation, their chance of survival drops by up to 10%. ‘With most cardiac arrests happening at home, knowing CPR and being confident to act could save a loved one’s life.’
