This week the folks at Leveshulme Good Neighbours joined the Inspired People Project for a trip to Chester. Half of our number chose a visit to Chester Zoo, while the other half opted for a day out shopping in the lovely Chester town.
Those who went to the zoo had a fantastic time enjoying the new dinosaur exhibit as well as the amazing array of exotic animals. We had a great turnout of older people and volunteers – and it was especially nice to see some of our newest befriending relationships enjoying the day together and getting to know each other a little better. We were even treated to a boat ride, and Brenda, a new member, gave us a fantastic rendition of Wordsworth’s “daffodils” poem as we enjoyed the calming ride. Very zen!
Those of us hitting the shops in Chester had a great time too (even the torrential rain was kind enough to wait until we were all back on the coach!) There is plenty to see in Chester, including the old city walls, the cathedral, some well stocked sweet shops. Our members had lots to talk about: here’s what they had to say:
“I’m so glad I went to the zoo. This has been such a brilliant experience”
“Today was lovely, the weather was good and the people on the coach were helpful all day. Thank you!”
“Really enjoyable trip. I’m looking forward to more”
Many thanks to the wonderful Cooperative Community fund who helped make this trip possible!
